During one of the phone calls at 10:39 she looks around and at 10:43 she is off the phone again. She gets up out of her seat and goes to a woman who is seated across from her and sits down beside her. That was the last time Mekayla was reportedly seen on surveillance video. Her grandmother waited for her at the school to pick her up and she was not there. She missed her 4PM Violin rehearsal and her mother reported her missing at 8PM
It was noted that there were no phone conversations on Mekayla's phone records, there are text records to and from friends on her phone records however all of the phone calls she is seen making in the videos (shown in articles) are not on the records. They are made using phone Apps which do not allow for tracing phone calls. Mekayala's friend sent her a Snapchat message on the day she disappeared, that message was opened about three months later. She sent her another one from their graduation ceremony but it has never been opened.
There have been numerous tips and alleged sightings including one that the RCMP have been following up on in March 2019 in Edmonton Alberta. Police are working on a credible tip that Mekayla was sighted outside of the Highrun Club in Edmonton in March of 2019. The gentleman who reported the sighting to Paula Bali reported he had a conversation with Mekayla but did not know at that time she was reported missing. It was later that he saw a poster with her face and recalled their conversation. The family is not giving up hope.
